Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.4.1.1.3 - Identify and explain the contributions of women to the development of Ghana
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least five Ghanaian women who have made significant contributions to national development across different sectors.
- Explain the specific contributions of these women in politics, law, education, health, sports, and agriculture.
- Categorise the contributions of women according to the sector in which they were made.
- Create a poster celebrating the achievements of a Ghanaian woman who has contributed to national development.
- Appreciate, through discussion, the value of women’s leadership in building the nation, building on the moral lessons learned from women in religion in the previous weeks.

Learners brainstorm to identify key women and their contributions in national development • Politics: as MPs, Speaker of Parliament, ministers of state, assembly women, etc. • Legal/Judicial: as Attorney General, Chief Justice, judges, lawyers, etc. • Education: as teachers, headmistress, directors, etc. • Health: as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, administrators, etc. • Sports: as coaches, referees, footballers, athletes, etc. • Agriculture: as farmers, veterinary doctors, agronomists, horticulturists, extension officers, etc. 2. Create a poster about a woman who has/has had a prominent role in the development of Ghanaian society to celebrate her achievements and share with the class.
