Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.5.1.1.1 - Investigate the scientific methods used in waste management.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Identify at least four scientific methods of waste management, including recycling, composting, incineration, and sanitary landfilling.
Explain the scientific principles (such as decomposition, heat breakdown, and material transformation) that underlie each waste management method.
Conduct a simple audit of waste management practices in the school and classify the methods observed according to scientific categories.
Assess the effectiveness of each waste management method observed in the school audit using simple criteria such as cost, environmental impact, and space required.
