Indicator: B8.2.3.1.1 - Translate word problems into linear inequalities in one variable and vice versa
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the key phrases in a word problem that signal inequality relationships (at least, at most, less than, greater than, no more than, no less than).
- Translate simple word problems into linear inequalities in one variable using the correct inequality symbol.
- Translate a given linear inequality into a word problem or a verbal statement.
- Use a variable to represent an unknown quantity in a real-life situation and form the corresponding inequality.
- Distinguish between situations that produce equations (equal to) and those that produce inequalities, and justify their reasoning.
