Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.1.2.LI.3 - Perform a traditional dance as physical and recreational activities for improving skill and health-related fitness (e.g. Kpanlogo).
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Perform the Kpanlogo dance with at least three distinct steps, demonstrating correct rhythm and coordination with the drumbeat.
- Explain how each movement in the Kpanlogo dance contributes to at least two components of skill-related fitness (such as agility, balance, coordination, or rhythm).
- Briefly describe the background and cultural significance of the Kpanlogo dance, including its origin among the Ga people of Accra.
- Demonstrate at least one health-related fitness benefit gained from performing the dance, such as improved cardiovascular endurance or muscular endurance.
- Collaborate respectfully in mixed-gender groups to practice, refine, and present their dance performance to the class.

Experiential Learning and Project-Based Learning: Learners in their groups selected a traditional dance of choice at the end of the previous lesson. Learners are encouraged to research and watch videos on their chosen dances to aid their practice for the lesson. Assessment (1.1.2.AS.3): Level 1: Perform the dance with at least two steps involved. Level 3: Perform the dance with at least three steps involved in performing it. Level 3: Briefly share the background to the dance and perform the dance with all steps involved in performing it. Teaching and Learning Resources: - Online resources - Phones/laptops - Projectors - Drums - Castanet - Clappers - Costumes for the various traditional dances - Dance rooms or studio - Sound system and speakers. - Any other equipment found in the community fit for purpose.
