Indicator: B8.3.1.1.3 - Explain the causes and prevention of tooth and gum decay.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Describe at least four causes of tooth decay and gum disease, including the role of plaque formation.
- Explain the process by which plaque leads to tooth decay and gum disease.
- Demonstrate at least three proper methods of preventing tooth decay and gum disease.
- Demonstrate the correct technique for cleaning the teeth, including proper brushing and flossing methods.
- Evaluate common dental practices and identify which ones prevent decay and which ones contribute to it.
