Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.5.3.1.1 - Investigate the scientific concepts, principles and processes involved in industries in their environment.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

identify at least five industrial products produced within and outside their community and state the raw materials used for each.
describe the sequence of production processes for at least two everyday industrial products (e.g., bread, soap, palm oil, sachet water).
outline the scientific concepts and principles (such as fermentation, evaporation, filtration, chemical reaction) underlying the production of these products.
work in groups to investigate and present the production process of one local industry, demonstrating collaboration and proper use of information gathered.
evaluate claims about industrial products and processes to correct misconceptions (e.g., “all chemicals are harmful”, “sachet water is just tap water”).
