Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.5.3.1.1 - Investigate the scientific concepts, principles and processes involved in industries in their environment.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- identify at least five industrial products produced within and outside their community and state the raw materials used for each.
- describe the sequence of production processes for at least two everyday industrial products (e.g., bread, soap, palm oil, sachet water).
- outline the scientific concepts and principles (such as fermentation, evaporation, filtration, chemical reaction) underlying the production of these products.
- work in groups to investigate and present the production process of one local industry, demonstrating collaboration and proper use of information gathered.
- evaluate claims about industrial products and processes to correct misconceptions (e.g., “all chemicals are harmful”, “sachet water is just tap water”).
