Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.5.1.1.3 - Outline the stages of repentance
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain the term repentance in their own words, using the key elements of remorse, realisation, and resolve not to repeat past misconduct.
- Outline the four main stages of repentance in the correct order: realisation and acceptance of fault, regret for doing wrong, request for pardon, and promise never to repeat the bad deed.
- Identify at least two scriptural references (from the Bible and the Qur’an) that support the practice of repentance.
- Sequence the stages of repentance by analysing the story of the prodigal son and matching each stage to events in the story.
- Discuss the importance of repentance for personal peace, relationships with others, and relationship with God.
