Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.3.3.LI.1 - Create drawings of figurative representations in the environment

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define figurative representation and distinguish it from non-figurative and abstract representation using examples from their environment.
  2. Identify and sketch at least three figurative forms (human figures, animals, plants) found in their immediate surroundings with attention to their basic shapes and proportions.
  3. Apply at least two different drawing treatments (contour line, shading, cross-hatching, or stippling) to complete a figurative drawing of a subject from their environment.
  4. Present and explain their finished figurative drawing to a partner or small group, describing the subject, the materials used, and the treatment applied.
  5. Reflect on the work of a peer using respectful, constructive feedback that focuses on proportion, treatment, and overall composition.
