Learning Objectives
Indicator: B2.2.1.1.2 - Identify, create and describe the rule for simple number patterns involving repeated addition or subtraction, skip counting and arrays of objects.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the missing terms in a given number pattern involving repeated addition or subtraction.
- Describe the rule for a simple number pattern using words such as “add 2”, “subtract 2” or “skip count by 5”.
- Create their own number pattern of at least five terms and state the rule they used.
- Recognise arrays of objects as number patterns and describe the row-by-row count.
- Apply a given rule to extend a pattern by two or more terms, building on the increasing and decreasing patterns studied in Week 8.
