Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.2.1.1.3 - Identify the relation or rule in a pattern/mapping presented numerically or symbolically and predict subsequent elements

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. identify the rule in a symbolic pattern and use it to predict the next terms
  2. determine the rule in a numerical pattern by finding the constant difference between consecutive terms
  3. find the value of an unknown element when given the rule in the form x → ax + b
  4. complete a table of values for a given mapping rule and predict missing entries
  5. explain their rule in words using mathematical language such as “multiply by 2 and add 3”
