Learning Objectives
Indicator: B6.2.1.1.8 - Describe the relationship in a given table or chart, using a mathematical expression
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Examine a given table and describe in their own words how the pattern changes as the input values increase.
- Write a mathematical expression (e.g., cost = 3 × number of students) that describes the relationship shown in a table or chart.
- Use the mathematical expression to find missing values in a table, including working backwards from a given output to find the input.
- Justify their chosen expression by testing it against at least two rows of the table.
- Create their own table showing a pattern and write the mathematical expression that describes it for a friend to solve.
