Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.2.3.1.2 - Apply movement concepts, principles and strategies to perform intermediate level athletics (e.g., throwing, jumping, etc.)
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Demonstrate correct intermediate level technique in at least two athletics events, such as the standing long jump, triple jump approach, shot put push, or javelin throw, using the key movement principles of force production, balance, and follow-through.
- Apply pacing strategies to maintain consistent performance across repeated attempts in jumping and throwing events, adjusting effort based on individual capacity.
- Adapt equipment and rules (e.g., lighter implements, shorter run-up distances) to include classmates of varying abilities in a small-group athletics competition.
- Organise and run a small-group mini athletics meet, rotating roles as competitor, official, and recorder, while collaborating with all group members to complete the event successfully.
- Record estimates of distances jumped, distances thrown, and duration of activity in a personal self-journal for two consecutive attempts, tracking personal improvement.
