Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.2.3.2.2 Apply movement concepts, principles, and strategies to perform beginning-intermediate level hand and ball sports (e.g., volleyball, netball, etc.)
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Demonstrate correct forearm pass (bump) and overhead pass (set) techniques in volleyball using proper body positioning and follow-through.
- Apply the principle of “move to the ball, then play the ball” when receiving passes in netball and volleyball during small-sided games.
- Apply adapted rules and modified equipment (e.g., lowered net, lighter ball) to include classmates of varying skill levels in hand and ball sport activities.
- Create and organise a small-group competition (3 v 3 volleyball or 4 v 4 netball) that applies basic offensive and defensive strategies, such as positioning and communication.
- Record an estimate of their performance duration (e.g., minutes of continuous rallying) in their self-journal and set a personal target for the next session.
