Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.2.3.3.1 - Apply movement concepts, principles, and strategies in performing beginning level invasion sports (e.g., football, basketball, field hockey, etc.) to develop critical thinking and decision-making

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify and explain at least three movement concepts (space, dynamics, relationship) and two training principles (specificity, progression) as they apply to invasion sports like football and basketball.
  2. Demonstrate attacking and defending strategies (e.g., creating space, marking, supporting the ball carrier) in small-sided invasion games of 3v3 or 4v4.
  3. Make and justify quick decisions during game play, such as when to pass, when to dribble, and when to shoot, based on the position of teammates and opponents.
  4. Apply adapted rules and equipment (e.g., smaller goals, softer balls, larger teams) to ensure all classmates can participate meaningfully in invasion games.
  5. Record an estimate of their playing time and performance in a self-journal entry as part of building personal responsibility for physical activity.
