Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.1.2.LI.2 - Discuss the role of nutrition (school feeding programme- SFP) in the academic work of learners.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Explain what the School Feeding Programme (SFP) is and list the foods commonly served under the programme in Ghana.
  2. Describe at least three ways that good nutrition from the SFP influences academic performance, such as concentration, memory, and school attendance.
  3. Discuss the relationship between breakfast (or lack of it) and a learner’s ability to learn in the morning hours.
  4. Evaluate both the benefits and the challenges of the SFP in Ghanaian schools using evidence and reasoned arguments.
  5. Work collaboratively in mixed-ability groups to debate the role of the SFP, presenting points and responding respectfully to counter-arguments.
