By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define a proportional relationship and identify the constant of proportionality (unit rate) from a given relationship.
- Write an equation in the form y = kx to represent a proportional relationship between two quantities.
- Translate word problems involving proportional relationships into algebraic equations.
- Use a written equation to calculate an unknown value when given one quantity and the constant of proportionality.
- Distinguish between proportional and non-proportional situations and justify why an equation is or is not proportional.
