Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.1.2.2.2 - Solve word problems involving the four basic operations and round the answers to the nearest two decimal figures or to some significant figures.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify the correct operation(s) needed to solve a multi-step word problem involving decimals.
  2. Solve word problems that combine two or more of the four basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with decimal numbers.
  3. Round final answers to two decimal places when required.
  4. Round final answers to a given number of significant figures (e.g., 3 significant figures).
  5. Justify their choice of operation and rounding in a group discussion, showing clear working steps.
