Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.1.2.2.1 - Add and subtract more than four-digit numbers.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Add two whole numbers with more than four digits using partitioning (expanded form) and the place value system, with accuracy.
Subtract a whole number with more than four digits from another, using partitioning and regrouping where needed.
Align decimal points correctly and add decimal numbers up to thousandths, such as 3627.6 and 854.13.
Subtract a decimal from another, such as 37.85 from 193.6, by first writing both numbers to the same number of decimal places.
Apply addition and subtraction of more than four-digit numbers to solve word problems involving money and quantities in everyday Ghanaian situations.
