Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.1.2.1.2 - Apply mental mathematics strategies and number properties to do calculation

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Use the halving and doubling strategy to mentally multiply two numbers, given the product of two related numbers.
  2. Apply the distributive property to break apart numbers and simplify multiplication mentally.
  3. Apply the associative and commutative properties to rearrange numbers for easier mental calculation.
