Learning Objectives
Indicator: B7.1.2.1.1 - Multiply and divide given numbers by powers of 10 including decimals and benchmark fractions
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Recall multiplication facts up to 144 and related division facts fluently when solving problems involving powers of 10.
- Recall the decimal and percentage equivalents of given benchmark fractions such as 1/4, 1/10, 1/2 and 3/4.
- Multiply a given decimal number by 10, 100, 1000, and by benchmark fractions 1/10, 1/100, 1/1000.
- Divide a given decimal number by 10, 100, 1000 and by benchmark fractions 1/10, 1/100, 1/1000.
- Explain in their own words the pattern of moving digits when multiplying or dividing by powers of 10.
