Lesson notes

Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.1.2.6.1 - Solve multi-step word problems involving the four basic operations

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify the operations needed to solve a multi-step word problem and state them in the correct order.
  2. Model a mathematical statement (number sentence) from a given word problem involving addition and multiplication, and solve it.
  3. Model a mathematical statement from a given word problem involving subtraction and division, and solve it.
  4. Model a mathematical statement from a given word problem involving multiplication and division, and solve it.
  5. Solve multi-step word problems using the four basic operations and check whether their answers are reasonable using estimation or inverse operations.
