Learning Objectives

Indicator: B7.1.1.1.4 - Round decimals to the nearest tenth, hundredth, thousandths, etc.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  • Identify the place value of digits in decimal numbers up to four decimal places.
  • Apply the rules for rounding off, rounding up, and rounding down to round decimals to the nearest tenth, hundredth, and thousandth.
  • Justify each rounding decision by referring to the digit in the place value immediately to the right of the target place.
  • Round decimals correctly in both table format and written format, showing all working steps.
