Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.3.1.1.4 - Demonstrate how to care for and maintain measuring and marking out tools used for production

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Explain why measuring and marking out tools need regular care and maintenance, giving at least two reasons related to accuracy and tool lifespan.
  2. Identify at least three cleaning agents or materials used to clean measuring and marking out tools and match them to the material the tool is made from (e.g., Brasso for brass, oil for steel).
  3. Demonstrate the correct procedure for cleaning, oiling, and storing a measuring or marking out tool in a step-by-step sequence.
  4. Share personal experiences from home about how tools or equipment are cared for, and connect these to workshop practices.
  5. Assess whether a given tool care practice is correct or incorrect and justify their answer.
