B4 Mathematics · Term 3, Week 3
Measurement- (Perimeter and Area)
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B4.3.3.1.1
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and use personal referents (e.g., thumb width for centimetre, arm span for metre) to estimate the perimeter of at least three classroom objects.
- Estimate the perimeter of given objects in centimetres or metres before measuring.
- Measure the actual perimeter of objects using a ruler or tape measure and record results in cm or m.
- Compare estimated perimeter with actual measured perimeter and explain any differences.
- Work collaboratively in pairs to estimate, measure, and verify perimeters of objects around the classroom.

E.g. 1 Using pupils' referents for centimetre or metre estimate and calculate perimeter of any object in the classroom (e.g. exercise book, floor tiles, math set, etc.) then measure with a ruler of tape and calculate the actual perimeter and compare the answers
