Learning Objectives
Indicator: B3.3.3.1.2 - Select and justify referents for metre and centimetre
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least five common referents in their environment for a metre and a centimetre.
- Select an appropriate referent (metre or centimetre) for measuring given items and explain their choice.
- Justify their selection of a referent by comparing the size of the item with the size of the referent.
- Match items in the classroom and school environment to either metre or centimetre referents with accuracy.
- Work in pairs to sort items into “best measured in metres” and “best measured in centimetres” groups, giving reasons for each choice.
