Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B2.3.3.1.2 - Develop an understanding of measuring as a process of comparing three or more items
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Compare three or more objects by length, height, mass or size using the words smaller, smallest, longer, longest, bigger, biggest, heavier and heaviest.
- Arrange three or more objects in order from smallest to largest (or largest to smallest) after direct comparison.
- Use indirect comparison to order objects that cannot be placed side by side, using a non-standard tool such as a stick, piece of string or their own handspan.
- Justify their ordering of objects by explaining the steps they took to compare them.
- Work in small groups to collect objects from the environment and present their ordered set to the class with a clear explanation.
