Learning Objectives
Indicator: B3.2.3.2.1 - Make a sketch of the school compound and show locations of some landmarks
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least five landmarks on the school compound and describe their positions in relation to one another using words such as beside, behind, in front of, and opposite.
- Sketch the outline of the school compound, showing the main buildings and their relative positions.
- Label the landmarks correctly on their sketches, including the classroom block, head teacher’s office, and the library, among others.
- Use simple symbols or colours to represent different buildings and features on their sketch.
- Apply the skill of observation to compare their sketch with the actual school compound and make corrections where necessary.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
Learners to explore the school compound through a study tour and do the following: i. Identify the position of buildings in relation to one another. ii. Draw the outline of the classroom on the chalk/white board. Call learners to come up to mark out their sitting positions on the outline.
