Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.1.2.1.3 - Examine the functions of specialised animal cells such as (nerve, blood cells, muscle cells and sperm cells) in relation to the existence of humans

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify nerve cells, blood cells, muscle cells and sperm cells from pictures, charts or models by their distinctive shapes and features.
  2. Describe the function of each of the four specialised animal cells studied (nerve, blood, muscle and sperm) in their own words.
  3. Explain how the structure of each specialised cell is adapted to carry out its function.
  4. Relate the functions of these specialised cells to the survival and continued existence of humans.
  5. Create a simple model or labelled diagram representing the shape of at least one specialised animal cell.
