By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify the four specialised cells of dicotyledonous plants (epidermal, guard, cambium, and xylem cells) by their names and distinctive shapes when shown charts, videos, or diagrams.
- State at least one primary function for each of the four specialised cells studied (epidermal, guard, cambium, and xylem).
- Match each specialised cell to the tissue or part of the plant where it is found (e.g., xylem in roots and stems, guard cells in the leaf epidermis).
- Explain in their own words how at least two of these specialised cells work together to keep a dicotyledonous plant alive (e.g., xylem and epidermal cells in water transport and protection).
- Use at least one digital source (video, website, or e-book) to find and record an additional fact about plant specialised cells, building on skills from the previous lesson on specialised cell formation.
