JHS2 Science · Term 1, Week 4
Living Cells
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.1.2.1.2
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Classify given organisms (plants and animals) as either prokaryotic or eukaryotic based on the type of cells they are made of.
- Justify their classification by referring to the presence or absence of a true nucleus and membrane-bound organelles.
- Explain at least two ways in which prokaryotes (bacteria) and eukaryotes (plants and animals) affect human health.
- Propose simple safety measures to protect themselves and their families from harmful prokaryotes.
- Present their classification and reasoning in clear, ordered speech, using correct scientific vocabulary.

Exemplars (from the NaCCA curriculum)
1. Observe and list examples of organisms; plants and animals as prokaryotic or eukaryotic based on each cell type. 2. Explain the impact of prokaryotes and eukaryotes on humans health and devise safety measures to protect them.
