Indicator: B8.2.2.1.2 - Discuss the impact of the Anopheles mosquito on humans and how it can be controlled.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Explain the role of the female Anopheles mosquito as a vector for the Plasmodium parasite that causes malaria in humans.
- Describe at least four impacts of malaria on individuals, families and communities in Ghana.
- Identify and explain at least five methods of controlling the Anopheles mosquito and preventing malaria.
- Generate and present at least two practical solutions for reducing malaria in their local community.
- Justify why controlling the mosquito population is more effective than treating malaria after infection.
