Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.3.3.1.2 - Use appropriate tools, equipment and techniques to join and assemble patterns/artefacts/products

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Demonstrate correct handling of the sewing machine to produce straight stitches, circular stitches, and curved stitches on paper patterns.
  2. Use a crochet pin/hook to make basic stitches for joining fabric pieces.
  3. Select and apply the appropriate joining technique for wood, metal, bricks/blocks, plastics, and paper.
  4. Join and assemble a simple artefact using at least one technique from the sewing workshop and one from the materials workshop.
  5. Appraise finished artefacts using simple criteria and reflect on the joining processes used.
