Learning Objectives

Indicator: B8.3.3.1.2 - Use appropriate tools, equipment and techniques to join and assemble patterns/artefacts/products

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Demonstrate correct handling of the sewing machine to produce straight stitches, circular stitches, and curved stitches on paper patterns.
Use a crochet pin/hook to make basic stitches for joining fabric pieces.
Select and apply the appropriate joining technique for wood, metal, bricks/blocks, plastics, and paper.
Join and assemble a simple artefact using at least one technique from the sewing workshop and one from the materials workshop.
Appraise finished artefacts using simple criteria and reflect on the joining processes used.
