Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.5.2.2.2 - Explain the concept of common diseases in an environment.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define a common disease and state at least three characteristics that make a disease “common” in a community.
- Conduct a simple community survey on common diseases and present the findings in a table or chart.
- Identify the causes, symptoms and prevention methods of at least five common diseases found in their environment.
- Analyse survey findings to determine which diseases are most common in their community and explain why.
- Compare and contrast common diseases with non-communicable diseases, building on the previous week’s lesson.
