Learning Objectives

Indicator: B3.1.4.1.1 - Sketch a map of the neighbourhood showing major home, major routes and other important locations

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify and name important locations in their neighbourhood, such as the chief’s palace, market, police station, post office, and their own home.
  2. Discuss the location of their homes in relation to other important places in the neighbourhood using simple directional words like near, beside, behind, and opposite.
  3. Sketch a simple map of their neighbourhood showing their home, major routes (roads and paths), and other important locations.
  4. Write simple sentences giving directions from their home to an important place in the community.
  5. Use symbols and labels on their maps to represent different places.
