Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.1.1.LI.3 - Discuss how to cope with depression and prevention of suicide.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Define depression in their own words and distinguish it from ordinary sadness or temporary low mood.
  2. Identify at least five warning signs of depression and three warning signs of suicidal thoughts.
  3. Describe at least four healthy coping strategies for managing depression, including when and how to seek professional help.
  4. Explain at least three practical steps to support a friend or family member who shows signs of depression or suicidal thoughts.
  5. Evaluate a given scenario involving depression or suicidal ideation and propose a responsible action plan, justifying their choices.
