Learning Objectives

Indicator: B9.1.3.1.1 - Review fractions and solve problems involving basic operations on fractions

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Represent a given fraction by shading the correct portion of a shape and identify equivalent fractions from a diagram.
  2. Generate equivalent fractions for a given fraction by multiplying or dividing the numerator and denominator by the same number.
  3. Simplify a fraction to its lowest terms and convert between mixed numbers and improper fractions accurately.
  4. Add and subtract fractions with different denominators, including mixed numbers, using the lowest common denominator method.
  5. Multiply and divide fractions, including mixed numbers, and express answers in simplest form.
