Learning Objectives
Indicator: B8.3.5.1.1 - Demonstrate how to mix the various finishes.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify at least four tools used for mixing finishes and state the purpose of each tool.
- Describe the correct procedure for mixing lacquer, including the correct proportion of thinner to use.
- Demonstrate the step-by-step procedure for mixing emulsion paint and oil paint, stating the correct thinning ratios.
- Justify why the thinning ratio differs among lacquer, emulsion paint and oil paint.
- Prepare a correctly mixed finish and display it for appraisal, judging quality by consistency and absence of lumps.

1. Identify tools used for mixing finishes. E.g., containers, stirring rod 2. Demonstrate the procedure for mixing lacquer. E.g., lacquer is diluted with thinner about 10-15% 3. Demonstrate the procedure for mixing emulsion paint. E.g., add water bit by bit and stir with stirring rod 4. Demonstrate the procedure for mixing oil paint. E.g., dilute oil paint with turpentine between 10-30% and stir. 5. Display the mixture for appraisal.
