Learning Objectives

Indicator: B3.3.2.1.1 - Describe how various festivals are celebrated

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Name at least three religious festivals from two different faith traditions in Ghana.
  2. Describe in their own words at least two activities that take place during a festival they have witnessed.
  3. Identify the key foods, clothing, and activities associated with Eid-ul-Fitr, Easter, and one traditional festival.
  4. Role play or act out one activity from a festival and explain what happens during that activity.
  5. Draw a scene from a festival they have witnessed and label at least two things happening in the scene.

i. Islam-Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha
ii. Christianity-Easter, Christmas, Ash Wednesday, Pentecost Day
iii. Traditional- Aboakyer, Hogbetsotso, Adae, Fetu Afahy Ɛ , Feok, etc.
Show pictures and videos of religious festivals.
Learners role play activities that take place during the festivals and talk about them.
Learners narrate the events in the festivals they have participated in and their importance.
Learners draw scenes they saw during the festival they witnessed.
