Learning Objectives

Indicator: 2.1.3.LI.4 - Explain the characteristics of an ethical and professional workplace.

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. List at least five characteristics of an ethical and professional workplace based on class discussion and scenario analysis.
  2. Distinguish between the features of an ethical workplace and an unethical workplace by sorting given scenarios into the correct category.
  3. Explain, in their own words, how each characteristic of an ethical workplace contributes to worker satisfaction and organisational success.
  4. Evaluate a given workplace scenario and justify whether the environment promotes ethical and professional behaviour, using at least two characteristics as evidence.
  5. Identify characteristics of an ethical workplace that are currently missing from a described Ghanaian workplace and suggest how they could be introduced.

Initiating Talk for Learning: In pairs, think and share views on the characteristics of workplaces where workers exhibit ethics and professionalism. Conversely, learners discuss the characteristics of workplaces where unethical and unprofessional conduct are exhibited. Provide various scenarios for learners to say whether the environment will promote ethical and professional behaviour or not.
