Learning Objectives

Indicator: 3.3.3.LI.2 - Discuss the effects of improper waste management or disposal in your community and Ghana

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Describe at least five effects of improper waste disposal on human health, using examples from their own community.
  2. Explain how improper waste disposal affects the environment, including soil, water, air and living organisms.
  3. Analyse the social, economic and aesthetic effects of poor waste management on communities in Ghana.
  4. Assess the links between poor waste disposal and disease outbreaks such as cholera and malaria in Ghanaian towns and cities.
  5. Evaluate statements or scenarios about waste disposal and justify their position with reasoned arguments, as preparation for the strategic and extended thinking required by the assessment.
