Learning Objectives
Indicator: 1.2.1.LI.2 - Organise and produce selected vegetable crops and ornamental plants.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Outline the steps involved in organising a small-scale vegetable or ornamental production enterprise, from land preparation to regular care.
- Prepare planting containers or beds using correct soil mixtures and spacing for at least two selected crops.
- Plant seeds or seedlings of selected vegetables and ornamentals at the correct depth and spacing, following safe and proper handling procedures.
- Keep accurate daily records of planting dates, watering, weeding, and pest observations in a pocket notebook.
- Explain the economic importance of regular crop care and record-keeping for profitability, building on the market needs identified in Week 17.
