Indicator: B6.5.2.1.2 - Know how to prevent meningitis

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Describe meningitis as an infection of the membranes covering the brain and spinal cord.
  2. State at least four ways to prevent meningitis, including vaccination, avoiding overcrowded sleeping areas, and practising good hygiene.
  3. Identify the common signs of meningitis that require urgent medical attention.
  4. Explain why early treatment of meningitis is important.
  5. Demonstrate how to cover the nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing to prevent the spread of germs.
