SHS3 Aviation And Aerospace Engineering · Semester 2, Week 13
Design and Fabrication of UAVs
Lesson notes
Learning Objectives
Indicator: 3.4.3.LI.2 - Apply evaluation tables to select the best concept from a number of UAV concepts.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- List at least four relevant evaluation criteria derived from a given UAV mission requirement statement.
- Construct a decision matrix (evaluation table) that pairs each UAV concept against the stated criteria with appropriate weighting.
- Assign scores to each UAV concept against each criterion using a consistent rating scale, and compute weighted totals accurately.
- Justify, in writing or verbally, the selection of one UAV concept over competing concepts based on the final decision matrix scores.
- Identify weaknesses in a poorly designed evaluation table (e.g., missing criteria, unfair weighting) and suggest improvements.
