Learning Objectives
Indicator: B9.4.1.1.1 - Select and justify a method to collect data (quantitative and qualitative) to answer a given question.
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Distinguish between quantitative data (numerical) and qualitative data (categorical) by sorting given examples into the correct type.
- Select an appropriate data collection method (questionnaire, interview, observation, or experiment) for a given research question.
- Identify from whom or where data should be collected for a given study.
- Justify choices of data source and collection method using clear reasons such as cost, time, accuracy, and the nature of the data needed.
- Pose a simple research question of their own and plan how they would collect data to answer it.
