Learning Objectives
Indicator: B6.4.1.1.2 - Determine whether a given set of data can be represented by a line graph (continuous data) or a series of points (discrete data) and explain why
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Define discrete data and continuous data in their own words with at least one example of each.
- Sort given tables of values into discrete data and continuous data, giving a reason for each choice.
- Explain why continuous data can be represented by a line graph while discrete data can only be represented by a series of points.
- Justify their decisions when classifying data, using the key idea of whether the data can take any value or only separate, particular values.
- Write a short explanation for a peer stating whether a given data set is discrete or continuous and why.
