Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.4.1.1.3 - Compare graphs in which the same data has been displayed and explain how they are the same and different

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Identify two or more graphs that display the same set of data.
  2. Describe at least two similarities between graphs showing the same data, such as the title, the categories shown, or the overall order of amounts.
  3. Describe at least two differences between graphs showing the same data, such as the scale used (one-to-one versus many-to-one) or the way symbols and pictures are presented.
  4. Explain in their own words why the same data can look different in different graphs while still telling the same story.
  5. Justify their comparisons by pointing to specific features of each graph (title, labels, scale, key, symbol value).
