Learning Objectives
Indicator: B3.4.1.2.1 - Draw and interpret concrete graphs and pictographs to solve problems
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify and name the key features of a pictograph: title, labels, categories, key or legend, and rows or columns.
- Use a one-to-many correspondence (for example, 1 symbol = 2 items) to draw a pictograph from a simple data set with up to 3 categories.
- Read and interpret a pictograph to answer how-many-all-together, comparing, and take-apart questions.
- Explain, in their own words, why a key (legend) is necessary when using one-to-many correspondence.
- Use a completed pictograph to solve a simple real-life problem and justify their answers.
