Learning Objectives
Indicator: B3.1.1.2.1 - Describe situations having opposite directions or values
By the end of the lesson, learners can:
- Identify pairs of opposite actions, directions and values in everyday situations (e.g. up/down, forward/backward, gain/loss).
- Play the “opposite game” with a partner, performing and describing opposite actions accurately.
- Describe a given situation as having an opposite direction or value using correct vocabulary such as “opposite,” “reverse” and “the other way.”
- Justify why two described situations are opposites, giving a clear reason for their thinking.
- Work collaboratively with a partner to identify and demonstrate opposites, checking each other’s work for precision.

E.g. 1. Invite pairs of learners to play the "opposite game" (i.e. a learner performs an action and the partner does the opposite whilst the rest of the class serve as referees) E.g. 2. Make a space down the centre of the classroom and mark with chalk cross and ask a pair to stand on the cross with their back facing. the learners then move in the opposite direction a straight line
