Indicator: B5.1.1.2.2 - Count and convert Hindu Arabic numbers to Roman numerals up to 100 (C) and vice versa

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

Convert any Hindu Arabic number from 1 to 100 into its Roman numeral form, using the correct symbols and order.
Convert any Roman numeral up to C (100) into its Hindu Arabic value by applying the addition and subtraction rules.
Read Roman numerals aloud in sequence from I to C, both forwards and backwards, without pointing at a chart.
Justify their conversions by explaining which symbols they combined and why they used addition or subtraction.
Solve word problems that involve converting between Hindu Arabic and Roman numerals in everyday situations.

E.g. 1 Learners read the chart sequentially forwards and backwards, vertically (up and down), zig-zag, diagonally and randomly without pointing to the numbers. Invite 2-3 learners to read to the class. Call a Roman numeral and ask learners to write
E.g. 2 Give learners a numeral in the Hindu Arabic system and have learners convert to roman numeration and vice versa for instance XXIV = 24, LX = 60, XCIV = 94, ETC.
