Learning Objectives

Indicator: B4.1.1.2.2 - Count and convert Hindu Arabic numerals to Roman numerals up to 30 and vice versa

By the end of the lesson, learners can:

  1. Convert any Hindu Arabic numeral from 1 to 30 into its correct Roman numeral form.
  2. Convert any Roman numeral up to XXX (30) into its correct Hindu Arabic numeral form.
  3. Read Roman numerals aloud in sequence from I to XXX, forwards and backwards.
  4. Explain the additive rule used in Roman numerals up to 30 (e.g., why XXV means 25).
  5. Justify their conversions by showing the steps they used, checking that their answers follow the rules of the Roman numeral system.
